You can download a free App called 'No Lock' which works very simply and takes all the locks away.  Recommended. The only way you can wake the phone is by pressing the button on top of the phone, the screen is still locked out, which is fine for me as I don't keep my phone in a handbag! No lock has a simple enable or disable button, so if you needed a total phone lock, you can enable it again in 2 seconds!
