Had my Wildfire S for less than 2 days now.  I've changed the ringtone by uploading one that I have used for several years on other phones however I can't find a way to change the SMS text alert tone.  Can't find anything on the phone or in the manual.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Isn't this done by changing the Notification sound in Settings->Sound & Display->Notification sound?

I found choosing a sms tone limited, untill I used a free app called Tone Picker mp3.  Create a folder on your SD card, pop your wildfired ringtones (mp3) in there and use the app to associate a tone.

Hope that helps!

Done that.  Works a treat.  Thanks.

Shame it is only possible to define tones for calls and notifications.  It woudl be good if the SMS notification tone and email notification tone could be different to each other.  Or am I missing something?

you can put your own mp3 file for your ring tones or notifications

create folder in SD card root folder. named by media/audio/ringtones for ringtone.

Having read the forums on changing the SMS tones I have found a great app called Ringo Pro. It may incur a fee but it is well worth it. I signed up to appbucket and it is full of apps that otherwise would cost quite abit over a period of time, but if it is on this website its the full version with no silly ads. The Ringo Pro setup is simple and there is no messing around setting up folders and moving sound files around and the best thing about it is you can use any mp3 to assign to a contact or the sms alert.
