There are so many reasons for the problem and it's hard to pinpoint really but my advice would be:

* Double check APN settings - try these settings

For Vodafone PAYG I have manually set up

Name: Vodafone (enter whatever you want)
APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
MMSC: http//mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 234
MNC: 15
APN Type: * (I added an asterisk but not sure if you really need to)

Leave everything else blank

Vodafone contract settings

Name: Contract WAP (enter whatever you want)
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
MMSC: http//mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS proxy: 212.183.137.12
MMS port: 8779
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 15
APN Type: * (I added an asterisk but not sure if you really need to)

Leave everything else blank

If this fails contact Vodafone customer services and they should be able to send you send you all the relevant phone settings by text which will auto setup your phone.

I have also heard that if you have APN settings correct try sending a picture MMS to your own number and that kind of activates the service - again I'm not sure if that works.

i had a  major issue with mms when i first had phone, all apn's were correct, went through 5 tech support from my carrier with no joy, was finally put on to htc, there is a bug  that they are aware of with some htc phones not only wildfire that causes dramas, there solution was for me to factory reset and also contact my carrier to get them to delete all mms settings from their end and then to re enter them, combination of the two and mms all good.

true, i hadn't thought of that since i hardly use wifi, wifi does take precedence over wap( required to send mms) but if this doesn't work check apn's etc Wink
