Yeah. I was traveling home from work on the bus a couple of weeks ago and found an iphone. It had a shattered screen (although it still worked flawlessly) and the owner rang me on it and said "thank god ya giving it back because that's a £400 phone that is!" I thought "is he telling me this cos he's so ashamed that someone doesn't consider his phone worthy of nicking it that he's actually trying to persuade me to do it??" Grin

Yeah nice one diesel, I heard that an app killer would be an essential. Wonder if the battery life will improve after a good few charges. My omnia had dreadful battery life but now i get a good 2 and a half days from a single charge.

How are you getting on with app killer? I had it on my phone but it seemed to be on all the time 'looking for apps to kill' Maybe I didn't set it up right. Also, read my post in the 'How To' section about 'Always on Apps'
Regarding battery drain, if one can curb FriendStream and the like, reduce weather updates etc you can get more than a day or so. Not ideal but it helps.
End of ramble!

Well I don't order my wildfire til tomorrow (16/06) so wont get it til 17th at the earliest so I can't comment about app' killer yet. But it sounds like an essential app' for this phone. I was also wondering if you can download more free live wallpapers for the wildfire besides the pre-installed ones?

MY new Wildfire S has been promised to be delivered tomorrow!! Although I've had to change network from T-Mobile to Virgin Mobile to get it. T-Mobile wanted me to increase my monthly payment and the length of my contract and also couldn't tell me when I'd receive the phone as they were struggling with demand. Promises were broken in regards to them ringing me back to tell me if they could find one in one of their shops and in my view I was treated abysmally to say that I have been with them for a number of years.  Angry
I rang virgin and was offered..Free Wildfire S, 18 months contract, 800 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited Internet, unlimited free virgin mobile to virgin mobile calls and unlimited free mobile to virgin landline calls £35 per month and delivered tomorrow (within 24hrs)    Grin T-mobile tried to palm off an IPhone 3GS instead of the Wildfire S......er no ta!

just registered on the site to reply to this. I have had my Wildfire S for 3 days now its the best phone i have ever had. I previously had 2 iphones and this phone beats them hands down. I must say that i have charged it a few times but the reason is that i cant put it down.
The marketplace is as good as the iphone in my opinion with the exclusion of games but this will come in time if thats your thing. The thing that does it for me is how flexible the phone is. The touch scrren is excellent, if anything a little too sensitive and the grip on the phone is second to none compared to the x10.

TELL YOU WIFE TO HOLD OFF UNTIL SHE HAS TRIED YOURS IF YOU CAN PUT IT DOWN !!! Roll Eyes

If God came down and asked me if he could try my phone out, he'd be leaving with a disapointed look on his face, so what do ya think of my missisus chances lol. I told her that the Wildfire S is the better option, I showed her what you guys were posting here and this had no effect. The x10 is still winging it's way here for tomorrow morning. Even missisus live and learn...............I hope.  Undecided

Got up at 07.30 this morning, at 8.00 there was a knock at the door, I rushed to find a postman clutching the missisus X10! She came tootling downstairs "ooo a dog barking woke me up." (trying not to look like a kid that can't wait to open a present) She's unpacking it whilst trying to stave off her smile and look grown up, while I'm feeling pretty impatient waiting for mine.
missus is testing her camera by taking test shots of me with a fake grimaced smirk. Then at last, 11.30, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT CAME!!!!!!!!

You were right guys, this is probably the best phone I've ever had. Thanks for all your replies, which helped me make the right choice! CHEERS
                                                 Regards,

p.s I took out the contract with Virgin Mobile on the 16/06 and have cancelled it on 07/07. The phone was fine....ish, it did stop sending picture messages for some reason.
The main problem was that utter toilet bowl of a network Virgin! They opened my account and then it all went belly up. My account was credited with 0 mins, 0 texts and 0 internet.
Despite numerous calls from me for them to correct the problem,......no joy! Luckily I popped into Orange on the way home from work and they were the only shop to have any Wildfire Ss left, so as of tomorrow, I'm Orange.......as of today I lost my VIRGINity.

I've been a SE user for many years now - the 810i walkman phone was absolutely solid....until I lost it - so when news came of the X10, I was excited. When it finally dropped, I was disappointed. Old OS, limited function on the touchscreen and some lower-than-ideal hardware specs, along with poor battery life (probably the same as Wildfire S?) put me off.

Then I stumbled on the Wildfire S and I haven't looked back. Glad to hear you went with the Wildfire S. Sure, it needs charging more often than the standard Nokia, Moto, etc, etc, but it's not a huge deal. This phone has a lot up it's sleeve. It's worth it. I'm in the habit of putting it on charge over night and if I'm using it alot during the day, I just give it a quick charge at work with my spare USB cable on my PC's USB port. Easy.

I had a look at the X10 not long after I got the Wildfire S and to be honest, there was nothing really wrong with it that I could find in the short testing period. I think your lady will enjoy the phone and hopefully wont have too many gripes about it.

Sorry to hear your experience hasn't been flawless but sounds like most of the issues were with your telco. The only real issue I've had with mine is that (apart from losing it and having to buy a new one - idiot!) I put a sub-standard microSD card in it and it got flakey until I put a decent one back in.

Enjoy!

Thanks, I have enjoyed the wildfire despite the flaws. However, my new Wildfire S from orange seems ok up to just. At least it is sending picture messages unlike with Virgin and it is black as I wasn't keen on the brown as it looked nothing like brown, more like a pinky purple? But on the whole the wildfire is awesome!!!!

The battery life on my Wildfire S has improved DRAMATICALLY over the first week I've been using it. I don't know if this helped, but after a couple of standard charges I gave it two 8 hours charges and then it seemed to me that it started to last a lot longer! I'm now on 36 hours and counting, and that includes a bit of everything, i.e. 3G telephone use, video playback, audio playback, internet usage (WiFi & 3G), but with no excessive use of any of these

can u pl explain in detail the steps u did u increase battery life

Frequent charging is very annoying. A lot of apps runs spontaneously even after killing it throu advance task killer eg calend clock settings etc.

i badly need to improve my battery performance , will be happy if it stays for atleast 24 hrs
